The Nukeproof Dissent Carbon 290/297 Frame: A Race-Winning Legacy, Refined

The all-new Nukeproof Dissent Carbon downhill bike has already proven its mettle in some of the most prestigious, gnarliest, and raddest downhill events on the planet.

This frame-only version of the Dissent Carbon can be built with matching 29” wheels front and rear or a moto-style 29” front and 27.5” rear ¬— thanks to a flip chip in the rear end, you can choose which suits your riding best. It also comes with a top-end RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate DH Air shock, a headset, rear axle and seat post collar.

Now made of T700/800 monocoque carbon fiber and with improved suspension kinematics over its predecessor, the Dissent Carbon builds on the race-winning legacy of the Dissent Alloy. We’ve added more rider-tunable performance features, refined the handling, and incorporated a plethora of feedback from our riders and racers. Riders can also now choose between a 290 and 297 wheel setup by simply changing a set of flip chips built into the chainstays, adding even more World Cup-level tunability to a bike that’s earned a reputation as a favorite among downhill privateers.

The new Dissent Carbon has already been put through the wringer on the world stage. It was ridden by pros and other test pilots as a prototype at UCI Downhill World Cups, Red Bull Hardline, Crankworx, and other events through much of 2022. They raced it and gave us feedback, we listened and refined. The result is a world class downhill mountain bike designed with insight from some of the best riders in the world, with the goal of helping you ride like one.

How it Rides

With a fresh canvas and a new frame material, the Nukeproof product team took full advantage of the opportunity to make performance gains and incorporate new features into the Dissent Carbon.

The new suspension kinematics build on the success of the Dissent Alloy by improving sensitivity and suppleness. A high beginning rate gives a more supple feel at the top of the stroke, with a steep mid-stroke for good stability, and a regressive mid-to-end stroke to prevent spiking and limited travel use. The added sensitivity works well with the stock-supplied RockShox air shock and allows riders running coil shocks to go up a spring rate without adding harshness. It pedals exceptionally well, too.

Like its predecessor, we designed the new Dissent Carbon to be as tunable as possible. The bike features several flip chips and adjustment points that allow riders to dial-in their ride:

• A three position adjustable main pivot that tunes between three suspension progression settings — 21%, 25% and 28%
• An adjustable reach headset, allowing for +/-6mm of adjustment fore and aft
• One frame, two wheel setups: A flip chip at the rear end allows you to convert between a 290 and 297 wheel setup
• A three position chainstay flip chip to adjust the wheelbase

We’ve also added integrated bump stops to the frame, tube-in-tube internal cable routing for a quiet ride and easy maintenance, and room for up to a 2.5” tire with mud clearance to spare. It also comes stock with Enduro Bearings, a pre-applied paint protection kit and 3D-contoured rubber frame protectors on key areas of the frame.

From its very first prototype, the Dissent has always been a bike to instill confidence at Mach speed on the absolute jankiest of tracks. Now in its second generation, the Dissent Carbon builds on that legacy in a faster, lighter and more capable package.
