Nukeproof Horizon Pro Front Wheel

From the legendary carbon-shelled Atom Bomb hubs in the 1990’s to the hugely successful Generator and Horizon wheelsets, Nukeproof has always been synonymous with creating bombproof wheels and hubs.

The Horizon V2 wheelsets, launched in 2020, were a ground-up design which elevated Nukeproof wheels to the next level of performance and value. Successfully campaigned in both the Enduro and Downhill World Cup with the Nukeproof-SRAM Factory Team, these wheels have been a huge favorite with weekend warriors and hard-charging privateers alike.

Building on the attributes that make the Horizon V2 wheels successful and a demand from our supported riders and customers, Nukeproof set out to take our wheels to the next level with the all-new Horizon Pro wheel range. Taking a fine-tooth comb to the Horizon V2, a number of areas were reviewed to shave weight but not sacrifice reliability.  

Designed and developed by Nukeproof's team in Northern Ireland and tested extensively, the new wheels are designed to be a lighter weight offering that is just as bombproof and compliant, with an all-new ratchet hub for the rear wheel.

Horizon Pro is designed for trail and enduro riders who are looking for are looking for the ultimate alloy wheelset offering 9-10% (depending on wheel size combination) weight reduction over the Horizon V2.

Hand-Built and Tensioned

Ready for fast-paced trail riding, the front wheel has gone through rigorous testing to meet the demands of both trail and enduro riders. The rim features a special blend of alloy material which produces a hardness similar to 7-series alloy, but with the ductility and yield properties of a 6-series. This gives you the best of both worlds in terms of stiffness, compliance, strength and weight. The front and rear wheels share the same rim and straight-pull spoke design, with a tough anodized black sandblasted finish.

Enduro ABEC 5 Bearings

After testing various brands of bearings, Nukeproof chose to use Enduro ABEC 5 bearings in the front wheel. These bearings have the “LLU/LLB” seal type, which uses two lips that make light contact in a groove to create a labyrinth where the water or dirt has a more difficult time to penetrate. LLU seals are similar, only the contact pressure or interference fit is greater to seal better. Enduro bearings have 80% grease fill on both sides, whereas most other bearings have 35% grease fill on one side. This delivers full coverage, so there are no dry areas as well as avoiding metal on metal contact or wear. That means that the axle feels tight out of the box and after a couple of rides it will become free.

New Nukeproof Horizon Pro Hub

The front wheel features a revised Nukeproof Horizon Pro hub, finished in eye-catching anodized silver with laser etch decals. Revised to use straight pull spokes, the front wheel offers improvements in tensioning and weight reduction. Removing the spoke bend by using straight pull spokes increases strength compared to J-Bend. Available in 15x110mm Boost only.   

What's Included?

Wheels come taped with tubeless valve installed, so all you need to do is fit your tire and add sealant. The tubeless valve supplied is compatible with Nukeproof ARD and other tire inserts, and the presta cap has a core remover built in.

Spoke lengths on Nukeproof wheels are the same regardless of spacing, the length changes with wheel size:
